Hi, Having ridden a LS400 I think that the 650
is a much better choice. Not only do you have
the xtra power which is necessary on our roads here
in NZ but you have a bike with a belt drive which
has to be an improvement to a chain and not an
abomination like a shaft drive. The only advantage
however with the LS400 is it does have a five speed
gear box.
I live in the Nelson district and ride an 1988 650
which has 23,000 miles on it and no its not for sale
especially at under $3000. I paid $3,750 for mine
in August 98 when it had 16,000 miles on it.
There are a few Savages around Nelson for sale at
the moment including an immacculate one (maroon) at
Paul Swift Suziki. Murray Thorne Motorcycles of
Motueka had one and may be getting another one in
(a blue one) but beware of this bike its a bit sus.
I looked at it as a possible custom job and then gave
it up after having a good look at the frame!
Anyway, Keep on looking, Dont let that money
burn a hole in your leathers- take it out and put
it somewhere else until the right bike comes along.
Ride safe and ride custom
